As you know, no matter how solid the hardware of the devices we buy today, eventually, when software support is cut off, they quickly become outdated, causing all the money spent to go to waste. Nvidia, which follows quite an interesting policy in this regard, has officially announced a new update for the Shield, which was released in 2015.
Nvidia Releases Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2!
This update, named Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2, mainly focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements. However, one of the most notable new features is the Auro-3D support.
With this update, Nvidia announced that Shield devices can now fully support high-resolution audio experiences over HDMI.
To use the Auro-3D audio format, a compatible decoder and supporting application are required. Additionally, the update brings several improvements, such as Frame Rate Matching improvements, audio content resolution matching with USB DAC usage, a factory reset option to fix HDMI-related issues, and security enhancements for 4K DRM playback.
Nvidia Shield’s long-term software support stands out as a remarkable attitude in an environment where other tech companies often stop updating their devices. The Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2 update is currently being rolled out gradually to all users.
So, what do you think about the company’s approach? Do you think the frequency of updates should increase and last for even more years? You can share your thoughts in the comments.
